INFORMATION ABOUT THE FRIENDS OF THE ULLSWATER WAY
The Friends of the Ullswater Way are a local group working with the 5 parishes around the lake. Our aim is to celebrate all that makes the Ullswater Valley special – the grandeur and beauty of its landscape, its history and traditions, the people who live and work here and those who are and have been inspired by the area.
Our first project is to create a number of installations along the Ullswater Way, each celebrating an aspect of the valley. Each will be in harmony with the natural surroundings and created by local artists and craftspeople.
We already have plans for several installations and will be working on additional ones over the next year. We welcome suggestions and ideas from residents as well as those who visit or work here. We are also keen to hear from anyone who would like to be more involved in the Friends of the Ullswater Way.
Our first installation was financed by local fundraising. We have received a grant for £3,000 from the Lake District National Park to start work on 3 additional installations and we hope to raise an additional £5,000 through our Just Giving page to complete these.
Please support us – every little counts!
