Over the last two and a half years the Friends of the Ullswater Way has worked with local artists and craftspeople to create a series of installations along the Ullswater Way. Each celebrates an aspect of the Valley’s heritage and each is in harmony with the natural surroundings. They are marked in red on the map. To complete our Heritage Trail, a series of information points, marked in blue, draw attention to other sites of historical and cultural interest.
Please click the map below for more details on the installations and information points or select from the drop down below.
ULLSWATER HERITAGE TRAIL
Our first installation was financed by local fundraising and we have subsequently received funding from the The Lake District Communities Fund, The Hadfield Trust, Cumbria Waste Management Environment Trust, United Utilities, The Ullswater Preservation Society, The Wainwright Society, The Wordsworth Trust, The National Trust, Ullswater Steamers, NAV4 Adventure and The Eden Tourism Team. We have also received help in kind from many local people and many more have offered their time. We are very grateful to all those who have supported us.
